Michael Saudino is a veteran of law enforcement with over 38 years of experience and an impeccable record of excellence and accountability. Mike has spent the last nine years as the Chief of Police in Emerson, NJ where he has held the line on his department’s budget, finding creative ways to provide consistent quality service without raising the cost to the taxpayer. Under his watch, Emerson’s operating budget has been brought back down to 2004 levels and his town has never been safer. With your support this November, Mike hopes to bring these same leadership skills to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

Professional Experience

  • 1973 – Present: Emerson Police Department.
    • Held the ranks of Detective, Sergeant, and Lieutenant.
    • Chief of Police since January 2002.
    • Most decorated Officer in Emerson Police Department, awards include: Burglary Apprehensions (4), Life Saving award, Disarmed suspects with firearms (2), Childbirth and Unit Citations.
  • Office of Emergency Management Coordinator – Emerson, New Jersey
  • Bergen County Police Academy:  Served on the Advisory Board from 1994 – 2005.
  • Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad member  -  served as squad leader.
  • New Jersey State Firearms Instructors Association.
  • Community Policing Institute of New Jersey.
    • Approximately 200 In-Service Classes and Seminars from 1973 to the present.
