My name is Michael Saudino and I am your candidate for Bergen County Sheriff. I humbly ask for your input and support in the upcoming election campaign. For the past 38 years I have served the citizens of Emerson as a Police Officer – then rising in the ranks to Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant and have proudly spent the last 9 years as Chief of Police. Throughout my career, my greatest priorities have been protecting the safety of our citizens and loved ones, and protecting the quality of life in our neighborhoods in the most cost effective manner possible.
Bergen County is a beautiful place to raise a family, but it is also becoming excessively expensive – a product of too much spending and too much waste. As a taxpayer, a former small business owner and a current Republican County Committee member, I know the importance of protecting people in a cost-effective manner, something that is especially significant in these tough economic times. As Chief of Police, I have been successful in bringing my department’s current operating budget down to 2004 levels. Overtime has been significantly reduced without additional personnel.
As your Sheriff, I will get the Sheriff’s Department budget back on track. The taxpayer will be afforded unprecedented transparency into the spending and workings of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department. I will be accountable to you and will demand that I and every member of the Sheriff’s Department conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates that we are there to serve you and our great county. Bergen County demands strong and skillful leadership that will guarantee that the best interests of our communities will be served while initiating the most cost-effective procedures possible. Let’s get the job done – the right way.
